Things to Do on your Livigno Ski Holiday

From November through April, visitors enjoying ski holidays in Livigno can combine their love of downhill skiing with some of the other local activities. Here is a selection of fun things to do on your Livigno ski holiday and some new ways to enjoy this stunning location.

Ice-Skating in Livigno


Enjoy the ice in a slightly different way by visiting the Ice Rink San Rocco on Via Sarock. Hire skates and enjoy this sociable experience with family and friends.

Paragliding

Livigno Feel the Sky offers paragliding flights with an instructor in Livigno. Take to the air and enjoy the descent in this stunning location.

Snow-Shoeing and Cross Country Trails

Set in a broad valley, Livigno has around 30km of cross-country trails that follow the valley floor. Fans of Nordic skiing will find the valley has sunshine for most of the day and the opening of the Marlanna Longa competition track provides excellent conditions for Nordic skiing in safety. You can even combine cross-country skiing with rifle shooting in the annual Biathlon.

If you enjoy hiking, you will certainly enjoy snow-shoeing in this scenic area. Strap on drezola, the word for snowshoes in the local dialect, and explore the surrounding woods and valleys with the chance to see some local wildlife. Terrain Parks

Snowboarders and those wanting to add a little more excitement to their Livigno ski holiday experience will find the main terrain park behind Mottolino has something for everyone. The impressive freestyle zone hosts the World Rookie Fest and includes a gigantic airbag jump for backflips and other advanced tricks. You will also find a super-pipe and kicker lines for snowboarders of all abilities to improve their stunts and tricks.

Livigno has several other terrain parks, including the park at Carosello 3000 which also has a massive airbag jump. Nicknamed The Beach, this park is open daily from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is close to the Baby Lac-Salin (#14) lift. It’s perfect for high-altitude surfers, substituting white sand and surf with ice and snow, and is a popular place for cool apres-ski “beach” parties.

Alternatively, head to the Amerikan and the San Rocco parks near the foot of the Carosello gondola or the Del Sol terrain park closer to the centre of the town.

Scenic Flights

Scenic flights by helicopter are a fantastic way to appreciate the scenery as you experience a vertical take-off and fly above the valley of Livigno, soaring above and between the snowy peaks. Panoramic flights last either 6 or 11 minutes and are available for up to five people. Bookings can be made through the Livigno Tourist Office.

Horse Riding

Even in winter, horse riding is a popular activity as part of a Livigno ski holiday. Well-trained horses and experienced guides make this a fun way to explore the valley. Horse-drawn sleighs and carriage rides are also available.

Dog-Sledding

The nearby town of Decouville is home to the Italian Husky Village and Sled-dog Centre. Try this traditional snow sport, guiding your own team of dogs in this unique experience.
